Summer art camp returns! Kids (Kindergarten–5th grade) experience insider access to the museum and special exhibitions. Camp combines creative play, exhibit exploration, and hands-on art studio time mixed with a lot of fun! Celebrate your campers creations at the weekly young artist showcase at the McNay in the Valero Learning Centers.
Camp is in session from 9:30 am–5 pm. Drop-off begins at 9 am and students must be picked up by 5:30 pm. Students bring their own lunches. Snacks provided.

SUMMER 2019 SESSIONS
SESSION 1: Pop Portraits
July 15–19
Kids get up close and personal with portraits in the McNay Collection and featured exhibition Andy Warhol: Portraits. Mix colors, experiment with pattern and texture, to create a portfolio of painted portraits.
SESSION 2: Eco-Build
July 22–26
Recycle, upcycle, artcycle–just a few ways kids repurpose materials to create 3D sculptures. Campers collaborate and build additive and subtractive sculptures with non-traditional materials.
SESSION 3: Say Cheese – SOLD OUT!
July 29–August 2
What do photographs, screenprints, and cyanotypes have in common? Light! Kids learn about photographic techniques to create art. In addition, campers experience insider access to exhibition Warhol: Portraits.
SESSION 4: Animation Creation – SOLD OUT!
August 5–9
Back by popular demand, stop-motion animation! Craft a story, build characters and sets, and record a stop-motion film. Final cuts will be screened in a theatre setting at the McNay.
Registration Policies
Payment is due at time of registration. Participants are encouraged to register early, and classes will be cancelled if they do not meet minimum registered enrollment.
Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds will be issued, minus a $10 processing fee, when you cancel 10 business days prior to the start of a session. No refunds will be made after that date. Refunds are not issued for a missed class. If the McNay must cancel a class, you will be notified and receive a full refund.
