Sandy Skoglund’s Small Talk (2026/1992) is a limited edition of 50 digital prints available for purchase exclusively from the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas.
Small Talk is the third image to be selected by the artist from the original photo shoot of her iconic 1992 installation, The Cocktail Party. During the 1992 original photo session, Skoglund took over 40 shots, directing the models in numerous positions and attitudes, seeking to experiment with the innuendos and subtle overtones of human social interaction.
To benefit the McNay, Skoglund selected a third unique image from the original 1992 photo session. This image, Small Talk, is released as a limited-edition print created exclusively for the McNay Art Museum and is available only through the Museum. Each of the 50 prints is signed, dated, and numbered by the artist.
On close inspection, the viewer will see subtle differences among the three, primarily in the way live models interact with each other and the inanimate figures. All proceeds from the sale of Small Talk go to the McNay Art Museum.
