Since childhood, Alexander Calder had a natural aptitude for design with wire. His talent would transfer into wire “drawings” or mobiles suspended in air. Four Winds is constructed of steel rods and cut aluminum, painted red, black, white, yellow, and blue. The unique forms and bright colors allow the viewer to appreciate the harmonious balance that Calder achieved in his design, as well as slight movements caused by air currents in the gallery.
