Stop thinking about artworks as objects, and start thinking about them as triggers for experiences.
~Brian Eno, artist, musician, producer
Young artists experience a week at the Museum exercising creativity, innovation, and experimentation. Blending STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) strategies, studio practice, and deep dives into works of art, campers examine artists Alexander Calder, Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, and others. Experience the Museum and grounds with professional teaching artists, museum educators, and Teen Art Guide volunteers while making art every day.
Camp is in session from 9:30–4:00 pm. Drop off is allowed at 9:00 am and students must be picked up by 4:30 pm. Students bring their own lunches. Snacks provided.
Fee per week (includes t-shirt, sketchbook, & museum admission): McNay members $300, nonmembers $325. Registration coming soon. Reduced program fee available for students attending Title I school. To inquire about these limited spaces, email at email@example.com. Parents and guardians are asked to complete these forms and bring them to check in on the first day of camp.
Super (Art) Heroes
In a world of hot summer days, join forces with fellow artists to create powerful images, play games of mental strength, and learn about heroes in art. Daily challenges offer opportunities to experiment with materials and explore the museum and grounds.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Artists are filmmakers, photographers, performers, scientists, thinkers, and so much more. Campers explore installation art as seen in exhibition Immersed: Local to Global Art Sensations and create art that explores light, employs cameras, and requires action.
Payment is due at time of registration. Students attending Title I schools may qualify for reduced program fee. Participants are encouraged to register early, and classes will be cancelled if they do not meet minimum registered enrollment.
Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds will be issued, minus a $10 processing fee, when you cancel 10 business days prior to the start of a session. No refunds will be made after that date. Refunds are not issued for a missed class. If the McNay must cancel a class, you will be notified and receive a full refund.
Partial funding for McNay Summer Camp is generously provided by a grant from the Dan and Gloria Oppenheimer Fund and John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation of the San Antonio Area Foundation.
