“I always find beauty in things
that are odd and imperfect—they
are much more interesting.”
From gowns to grunge, classics to cutting edge, and creations that defy description, Fashion Nirvana celebrates designers, models, photographers, and video artists. The McNay is celebrating Jacobs’ inclusive statement through its first fashion exhibition ever in its 67-year history—taking inspiration from 1990s fashion in all its glitter, glam, grit, and glory.
Fashion Nirvana: Runway to Everyday exhibition, January 30 through May 17, 2020:
- More than 50 showstopping garments by designers Christian Dior, Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, Gianni Versace, Vera Wang, Todd Oldham, Isaac Mizrahi, and many more.
- Creating a multisensory experience, fashion ensembles will be paired with projections by 1990s video artists Rineke Dijkstra, Anthony Discenza, and Pipilotti Rist.
- Bold dialogue will be generated by artwork from the 1990s addressing fine art and fashion.
Please join me on the Fashion Nirvana Host Committee and be a trailblazer for the McNay’s first large-scale fashion and video exhibition.
