Spotlight: San Antonio’s K-12 Artists Embrace Ian Dawson

Since 2011, Spotlight has celebrated the remarkable achievements of student artists reflecting on one work in the McNay collection. This year, over 1,300 students from 37 San Antonio area schools created works of art in various media in response to Ian Dawson’s Henri and Henrietta.

the Studio

February 17, 2024 - July 14, 2024

the Studio is a multiuse, interactive space where visitors can relax, recharge, and engage with a variety of artwork and activities while learning about the McNay collection. The next selected artist for the Studio is Verónica Castillo, who is part of a heartfelt generational lineage of ceramic artists from Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla, México who collectively construct traditional Arbol de la Vida clay sculptures that document the legacies from one generation to the next.
