This exhibition examines the many depictions of motherhood in art, exploring the range of emotions and new experiences that often come with being a parent. The exhibition includes work from the McNay’s permanent collection and select loans from San Antonio-based artists, ranging from works on paper to sculpture.
Mama | Madre | Mother is organized for the McNay Art Museum by Lauren Thompson, Curator of Exhibitions; with Mia Lopez, Curator of Latinx Art; and Liz Paris, Curator of Collections/Collections Manager.
Support is provided by the Elizabeth Huth Coates Charitable Foundation of 1992, and Kronkosky Charitable Foundation.
