About the Artist

Joe Davis was raised in West Texas and graduated from Sul Ross State University. He had several careers in his lifetime, including carpenter, photographer, and teacher. Being a very creative person, Joe pursued his two favorite hobbies after retirement—photography, and working with wood. With photography, he traveled the countryside, photographing, wildflowers, windmills, old barns and birds. In woodworking, he leaned towards always using wood taken from trees, making unique rustic items. Joe eventually found wood carving, and it was the perfect match for him and his creativity.
