RegisterPlease join us for an exploration of the art and music inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Featuring Dr. Kevin Salfen, Dr. Annie Labatt, and a special roster of performers from OPERA San Antonio, this event will illuminate the various ways in which the play has been reinterpreted in the performing, visual, and musical arts for centuries. This multifaceted, multi-media conversation anticipates OPERA San Antonio’s performances of Gonoud’s Romeo and Juliet, at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on March 30 and April 1. A reception follows the lecture and performances.
Annie Labatt, PhD is well known in San Antonio for her lectures at the San Antonio Museum of Art and the McNay Art Museum. Her publication Art History 101…Without the Exams was published by Trinity University Press.
Kevin Salfen,PhD is a musicologist, composer, performer, and producer. He is Professor of Music at the University of the Incarnate Word.
