Adapted for the stage from the children’s book of the same title, this theatre production brings to life the story of Emma Tenayuca, an activist, labor leader, educator, and Chicana hero. This play honors Tenayuca and her leadership of the 1938 Southern Pecan Shelling Company workers’ strike. CarmenTafolla, Sharyll Tenayuca, and Terry Ybanez wrote and illustrated the original children’s book. Performance is suitable for all ages.
