A keen observer of the landscape, O’Keeffe’s use of color shows a deep appreciation of the hues found in nature. This workshop pays homage to the artist’s celebrated use of color, deep connection with the natural world, and recognized personal style. Use natural dyes to create a fashionable textile to wear al la O’Keeffe!
Join artist Daniela Oliver de Portillo and learn how to use materials found in nature to create natural dyes, then tint your own 11x 60” scarf. Produce a batch of natural dye and then experiment with colors and techniques to create a one-of-a-kind fashion accessory.
Teachers receive three hours of continuing professional education credit. Space is limited and registration is required. Fee (includes museum admission and workshop supplies): McNay members $30; nonmembers $40. For more information, email education@mcnayart.org.
