An artist and an ecologist walk into a Museum. Witness the collision as artist Donald Moffett converses with scientist and bird expert Jennifer Smith, PhD. Moffett and Smith nurture common ground between visual art and environmental science, sharing perspectives about overlapping topics of birds, South Texas, and migration.

Donald Moffett grew up in San Antonio and studied art and biology at Trinity University. Working as both artist and activist since the late 80s, Moffett incorporates nontraditional materials and techniques that challenge, perforate, deconstruct, reimagine the painted surface.

Jennifer Smith, Ph.D is a wildlife ecologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She oversees The Smith Lab at UTSA with the research aim of evaluating the effects of global change on wildlife in San Antonio and South Texas.
