Marion Koogler McNay was a passionate advocate for both regional and emerging artists during her lifetime. The McNay honors this legacy through Collecting Texas, a new annual event for acquiring contemporary artworks. Over the past two decades, the Museum’s renowned collection of modern art has been enhanced with significant acquisitions of contemporary art. Now, the McNay’s holdings include not only paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, but also video art, neon, and more!

Each year the event will focus on a different city in our state, enabling the McNay to build a selection representing the rich variety of themes, subjects, and materials found in Texas art today. This first Collecting Texas explores the work of artists with ties to El Paso, and future events will explore other Texas cities with similarly strong artistic legacies.

Sponsors and guests can expect a fun evening celebrating Texas artists and chatting with curators and collectors over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Sponsors and guests will be invited to vote on their favorite work of art presented during the reception, and the artwork with the most votes will be announced at the end of the evening.
