We are honored to welcome Chef Berty Richter, Executive Chef of Ladino. With over 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Berty has always had food at the center of his life. Born and raised in Israel, he grew up in the kitchen with his mother, aunts, and grandmother. After serving in the military, he spent time being classically trained in French cuisine. In 2001, he moved to New York City working at several restaurants including Tribeca Grill, Montrachet, Blue Water Grill, and Isabella’s.
In 2016, Chef Berty relocated to Austin, Texas where he opened TLV, specializing in traditional Israeli staples. In 2022, he moved to San Antonio and opened his first concept, Ladino. Located in The Historic Pearl, Ladino pays homage to Chef Berty’s Sephardic roots with a menu centered around the charcoal grill which plays a lead role in Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. In Spring 2023, Chef Berty closed TLV to focus on his second concept, Ezov, located in Austin. The menu celebrates the markets of Tel Aviv and the bounty of Texas. Ladino and Ezov have been recognized by the MICHELIN Guide, with Ladino earning Bib Gourmand distinctions in 2024 and 2025 and Ezov receiving MICHELIN Recommended status in both years.
At the June 2 event, guests can expect an unforgettable evening of craft cocktails, a seated dinner inspired by celebrated, on-view works from the McNay’s distinguished collection, and meaningful connections with fellow museum members, patrons, and community leaders.
