Melissa Gamez Herrera’s artworks contemplate issues of identity, community, and justice through photography, bookmaking, and multimedia practices. In the McNay’s newest Artist Looking at Art installation, Herrera showcases a conceptual altar dedicated to the unnamed migrants crossing hostile terrain along the Texas-Mexico border.
Join in on a conversation with Herrera and Mia Lopez, the McNay’s Curator of Latinx Art, as they discuss Herrera’s artistic practice in detail.
