The McNay Art Museum’s building and grounds are often thought to be a work of art in and of themselves. In 1927, Mrs. McNay and her then-husband, Dr. Donald Taylor Atkinson, a renowned San Antonio ophthalmologist, began building the Spanish Colonial-Revival home on 23 acres in an area known as Sunset Hills.
