From Casanova and Dr. Watson to Kate Winslet and Maggie Smith, Jenny Beavan designs costumes for Hollywood’s best loved period films. Known for her work in The King’s Speech, Alexander, and Sherlock Holmes, Beavan also designed the costumes for Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre, Gosford Park, Howards End, and Defiance, all on view in CUT! Costume and the Cinema. Beaven discusses her career, beginning with producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory, her many Academy Award nominations including an Oscar for A Room With a View, and her costumes featured in Cut! Costume and the Cinema.

 This lecture is a program of the Louis A. and Frances B. Wagner Lecture Series.
