A tour of Beauty Reigns: A Baroque Sensibility in Recent Painting at 1:00 pm and decadent movie treats at 1:30 pm precede the film.

Jude, a young shipyard worker in Liverpool, jumps ship in New Jersey to find his American G.I. father, only to be swept up in the anti-war movement and social protests of the 1960s. More than 30 Beatles’ songs are woven into this live-action and animation hybrid.

Tres Museos: Museum Day For Educators (9:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Tour the San Antonio Museum of Art’s exhibition, Matisse: Life in Color, take in the visual feast of Beauty Reigns at the McNay, and end the day at the Witte Museum’s new H-E-B Body Adventure.

Artists Looking At Art: Paul Northway (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Paul Northway’s most recent work concentrates on the effect humans have had on the earth’s natural resources, primarily in their use—and waste—of water. His sculptures are playful in their combination of color and form, yet they stand as thoughtful critiques on our treatment of the environment.

Summer Jazz & Lunch Series: Henry Brun And The International Trio (12:30 - noon - 3:30 pm)

A summer staple, the International Trio, led by Henry Brun, celebrates San Antonio’s Hispanic heritage with a lively Latin music repertoire. Enjoy rhythms from Puerto Rico to Brazil with bass, guitar, and percussion instruments.

Workshop: Photogravure Printmaking (10:30 am - 3:30 pm)

Learn how artists expose light-sensitive plates to a photographic process and pull a photogravure print. Work with renowned printmaker Janet Flohr of Hare and Hound Press.

GET REEL: 60th Anniversary Film Series: Sabrina (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

A 6:00 pm wine reception precedes the film.

 

This sweeping rags-to-riches tale follows Sabrina Fairchild, the daughter of a chauffeur, who undergoes a transformation while at culinary school in Paris and returns home to a love triangle involving brothers David and Linus Larrabee. Sabrina is one of Audrey Hepburn’s best-known films, and earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. U.S. 1954. English, 113 min., B/W. Not Rated.

Family Art Play: Summer Sunprints (1:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Sessions at 1:00 & 3:00 pm.

 

Use sunshine as an art material to create an original sunprint inspired by Paul Strand: The Mexican Portfolio. Work with a San Antonio photographer to learn the technique of cyanotype printing.

What is Family Art Play? The last Sunday of every month, the McNay offers a program for families that involves looking carefully at works of art and investigating a studio or performance component afterwards. For Family Art Plays, McNay members reserve space by calling 210.805.1768 by noon Friday before the activity. Nonmembers, pick up remaining free passes the day of activity. All Family Programs are free with museum admission.
