Performance: La Voz De San Antonio (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Robert Indiana pursued both poetry and painting in his early career and joined a poetry society while studying in Scotland. The McNay celebrates San Antonio writers by hosting one of four La Voz events, a citywide spoken word poetry contest directed by inaugural San Antonio Poet Laureate Carmen Tafolla and Gemini Ink.


Competition spans six categories: Ages 7 and younger, 8–13, 14–19, 20–29, 30–69, 70 and over. Win one of the La Voz events and secure a place to compete in the Grand Finale. Register for free at

Demonstration/Workshop: Full Steam Ahead! (10:00 am - 3:00 pm)

Tour Robert Indiana’s Hartley Elegies, a series of ten large symbolic portraits created as an homage to American artist Marsden Hartley. Enjoy an ongoing artist demonstration on the grounds with printmakers Michael Imbimbo and Glenn Faulk, who use a steamroller to print large woodcut prints made by San Antonio artists.

This program offers continuing education credit (CPE).

GET REEL: 60th Anniversary Film Series: Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

A wine reception at 6:00 pm precedes the feature film.
