Hailed by his contemporaries as one of the greatest lithographers of the late nineteenth century, Charles Dulac managed to produce only two complete portfolios of his technically accomplished and hauntingly beautiful prints before his untimely death at the age of 33. The McNay is one of only a handful of museums to have both deluxe editions of Dulac’s Suite de Paysages (1893) and Cantique des Créatures (1894) and this is the first time that they will be shown together.
